Jitter Bean Coffee Company breaks ground in Texas on 11th Anniversary
Saginaw, Texas: Jitter Bean Coffee Company's first licensee in Saginaw, Texas broke ground on Monday, as the company celebrated their 11th anniversary in Humboldt County.
The wait for this
momentous day has been a longtime coming. Rick and Kris Roberts, owners
of the Jitter Bean Coffee Company and Rich and Tamme Motherwell, owners
of the Jitter Bean Coffee Company in Saginaw, have been working on this
project on and off for the past 8 years. "We felt privileged to
celebrate Jitter Bean's past as well as being a part of its future,"
Rich said.
He added, "We have worked hard
and jumped a lot of hurdles to get to this point, so to say we are
excited is an understatement. We made a commitment at the beginning of
our journey to celebrate the milestones along the way. This has been
the most satisfying celebration so far."
The Motherwell's have known the Roberts' for more than 20 years. "We witnessed the way (the Roberts) have made an impact on their community through Jitter Bean. We have talked for quite awhile about how we could be involved," Rich said.
The couple had originally hoped to open a coffee shop in Santa Rosa, Calif., but things did not materialize there. So when Rich and Tamme moved to Texas a few years ago, they felt like it was the right timing for them to open up their own location. Through the years they had been researching various coffee shops to find the best option for their needs. "We looked at other companies, but none of them had the level of success with customer satisfaction that Jitter Bean has," Rich said.
The couple chose to align themselves with the Jitter Bean because of these values. "We wanted more than a business opportunity; we want an opportunity to really make a positive impact on people's daily lives," Rich said. The Roberts' think the business-relationship they have established with their friends will be mutually rewarding. "We have affectionately called them our ‘guinea pigs,' and we have made it our goal to learn everything we possibly can from their experiences so we might be able to implement those things with other licensees," Kris said.
"We
believe that Rich and Tamme are incredible people and the perfect
individuals for us to partner with in our first licensing endeavor.
They have similar attitudes about business and life as we do," she
added. "The Jitter Bean's licensing program allows its licensees to own
their own locations and reap all the benefits of their hard work and
investment, but with our experience and established brand," Kris said.
"We benefit primarily by having created regular and committed customers for our roasting company, which is a significant part of their licensing agreement with us," she added. More Jitter Bean licensee locations are on the horizon. Kris said, "We are optimistic that another couple we are working with right now will also open up their Jitter Bean after Rich and Tamme."
The Motherwell's hope to open their Jitter Bean location this Fall. Rich said, "The thing we are looking forward to the most is being a positive influence in our customer's day. What could be more satisfying than giving someone some encouragement as they start their day?"
